So I just worked out for the first time in forever...

I used to work out a lot and I was in pretty good shape. Back then I'd only smoke on the weekends. Then I got lazy, started smoking almost everyday and stopped working out. After a few months of that I just worked out again. Fuck me sideways. Not only can I not do nearly as much weight, but I get winded and lightheaded after like one set and I need a break. I'm so pissed, I had no idea I had slipped into this shitty of cardiovascular shape.

If I were to stop smoking this very second and start working out hardcore and jogging and shit could I undo the damage that I've done to my lungs? Part of me wants to do that, but a bigger part of me wants to be like fuck working out, lets just smoke all the time hahaha.

kill me now

LMAO. Just give it a few more years of being lazy. I'm like you. Went from workingout out everyday being in the best shape of my life to sitting at a desk all day and doing nothing. I'm trying to get back into the habbit, it's just hard to do as you've noticed. It's easy to workout everynow and then, but eating right and hitting the weights frequently gets hard.
I was gone for a while and now I\'m back.

Lol, well I somehow balance both very easily. I run my ass off and lift, then I get really high. Me smoking has no effect on my lungs as far as I can tell, and that's just based on the fact that I am never short of breath on a run, and I'm getting more and more endurance each day. I'm used to it, though, because soccer runs my life. In a week I will have to be outside in this *lovely* weather twice a day, running and running and running. Oh, and there might be some sprints, but only if there's time. : )

You just gotta stick to it, or at least wait to get high after you have worked out, so laziness doesn't become a part of you.

It's an age thing, too...I used to be REALLY thin and stuff...but when I hit around 23-24 yrs. old - I couldn't eat everything anymore! Bummer! So it's your metabolism too...I think! Plus I used to walk all the time around campus...and now I sit behind a desk all day. It's tough! And depressing!

When youre really into your routine and making gains motivation isnt difficult to find, if you take too long a break you feel really lazy in the gym and like you just want to give up. Go back a few more times and youll be fine, cardio will be okay again too

I'm with you. When I start to burn out I hit the gym, usually puts life in my body pretty quickly. It's fun and it feels good. It's such a nice, warm pain.
