    Which light first?

I'm looking at buying a light which comes with a red and blue bulb.
Which bulb works best when? I mean do I use the red first or the blue?
And why and which will work best at what stage of growth.

    Which light first?

Hello mashup .................. Ahhh an easy question, my favourite type

Buy yourself a ballast that can take MH an HPS bulbs.
Why ? ............ Simple because the MH bulb is the best for growing vegitive growth, it produces mainly light from the blue end of the spectrum which is what plants need to promote vegitive growth.
Now the advantage of having an interchangable ballast is that when the time comes to induce flowering you can simply put in the HPS bulb which produces red light which is a plants favourite for promoting flowering.

MH [Metal Halide] is a blue spectrum light used in the vegative stages of growing.

HPS [High Pressure Sodium] is the orange/red spectrum, used in the flowering stage of the plants life cycle.

They each have to have separate ballasts unless you get a HPS or MH conversion bulb [Which ever applies]

CFL's are used in both vegative and flowering stages.

Or an electronic/digital ballast that automatically adjusts to either HPS or MH

while we are on the subject, my bulb is a grolux hps with enhanced blue spectrum ( sorry, im not tryin to hijack the guys post, its probably relevant to the origonal question)

i was just gonna get a normal hps, but the guy recommended this enhanced bulb...anyone know if thats a good thing? the bulbs are only a little bit more money than standard and the plants seem to be doing well, the light also, is a lot more natural looking than normal hps, i guess thats because of the extra blue rays?

I think the Hortilix EYE has the most blue and it is well worth it. I don't run a veg cycle just clone to flower (Bonsai anyone?).
