OK IVE COPIED AND PASTED THIS TEXT FROM A THREAD I JUST MADE IN A REPTILE FORUM . I THINK ANY REPTILE KEEPER WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT THESE FUCKING RETARDS CLAIMED TODAY.




ok this is a re-write as my previous post wasnt exactly forum material.


ok some 25 members will already know this but.


right about 1-2 months ago my sister was conned by a petstore called paulo's petstore in kingston apon thames..she was sold hatchling/small locusts in a box labeld "large" i was angry about this so i called the shop and asked what they thought they were playing at......and basicly i was fobbed off with the:

"well we've never had any other complaints"
"they look small but they're in fact large" <---thats gotta be a joke

ok well i thought they had learned a somewhat lesson from this.

but

i needed some pure calcium for my leo's this week and asked another family member to get it from kingston....little did i realise that was the shop from before.....or i would have said forget it.

i wrote "PURE CALCIUM DUST : NO PHOSPHEROUS" onto a peice of paper and gave it to the family member.....that evening she returned with a pot of VITIMINS COSTING A UNBELEIVABLE £7.00,. yeah can u beleive that anyway? £7.00 for vitimins?!

ok so anyways angry as i was i kept the receipt and the slip of original paper with "pure calcium" written on it.

like most know i was in hospitol via ambulance at 4:30am saturday morning with gastritus or a possible stomach ulcer and should very much NOT be making trips to kingston.

so anyways i arrived at kingston (half bent over) and went into the shop i walked to the so called

"reptile amphibian section"

NOT ONE PRODUCT SPECIFICLY FOR GECKO'S . seriously not one pure calcium not one shed spray, no calcium products what so ever.

also i notice herman tortuises(sp) for an unbeleivable £200 EACH!! now i know for fact that 3 other petstores in sw-london sold them for £85 each...so i was instantly given the impression this purticular shop was taking un-knowing people for a BIG RIDE.

keeping my cool i go up to the counter and cue up...while cueing up i was listening to the costomer in front who was buying a new tank for her fish.....the convo went as follows:

costomer: hello i would like this tank but not all the accesories inside it (pack of pebbles) (fishnet) (little submarine)

shop assistant: Oh no you have to have the pebbles or the fish die............. ......(did i miss something here?)

costomer: well iv kept them without pebbles for 4 years love and i dont se why pebbles is necesity to their life..

shop assistant: (notice the condecendance) ERM actualy they live for up to 40years. (?)

costomer: look i dont want anythign else except a tank i KNOW they dont need "pebbles" to survive my husband bought them for me and he's had his for 6 years.

shop assistant: well ok but dont complain when their all dead.

me: hi someone sold this to a family member as pure calcium ysterday...but it isnt.

shop assistant: OH this actualy has calcium in it.

me: but we asked for pure calcium...

shop assistant: YES and like i say this has calcium in it. (ok what?!)

me: yes but its allso got vitimin A in it and if i use that as much as i need to use PURE CALCIUM i would in turn be overdosing my leo's.

SHOP ASSISTANT: i dont think thats possible.

me: (looking abit red) IN ANY CASE. its not the product we wanted , asked for, or had written down.

shop assistant:I WASNT SHOWN ANY PEICE OF PAPER!!

me: (calls over family member) and asks did u show the list? family member confirmed she has shown it written down because she didnt know what to look for anyway.

SHOP ASSISTANT: (OK NOTICE THE FLIP HERE) I was onyl asked for NO PHOSPHOROUSE. and thats what that is.

me: but half the products on your self dont have phospherous in them so are you gonna give me no phospherous TORTOUISE(SP) STUFF FOR GECKOS?!?!?!

SHOP ASSISTANT: (notice another flip here) well i was asked for calcium and that has calcium in it!.

me: (getting angry) so? so does half the other stuff in your shop. i beleive even the floor tiles have some trace elements of calcium in them but im not gonna use them for my gecko's am i?

shop assistant: (yet another turn flip) i was asked for no phospherous calcium. that has no phospherous and it has calcium in it....

me: yes love but im trying to get the point accross to you that i need PURE CALCIUM not something with calcium in with other vitimins....look i basicly dont care what i have to say you overcharged us for these "vitimins" anyway how come theyre £7.00 here and £4-£5 everywhere else?!

shop assitant: what gecko's are they anyway?

me: leopard gecko's (expecting her to relise why i need pure calcium only ) (even thou calcium is a bare basic for pretty much ALL REPTILES that a reptile shop should have stockloads of)

shop assistantAND THIS IS WHERE IT GETS UGLY) ACTUALY leopard gecko's dont need pure calcium they only need it when their "ovulating"

me: WHAT?!!? R U JOKING ME? pure calcium is a bare basic for all reptiles and yes leopard gecko's do need it they need thier food dusted with pure calcium 3-4 times alternating each feed. do you people even have a clue?

(ill admit i was starting to swear at this point ive left that out for the forums good)

shop assitant: well anyway i cant give you a refund all i can do is give you store credit or an exchange.....

me : but i have receipt its law luv you sold us the WRONG PRODUCT FROM WHAT WE WANTED. and you dont have what i need one your self even thou its basic .im legaly entitled to a refund within 65 days.plz give me a refund

shop assisntant: well youll have to come back next week when the managers off holiday.

me: wait so your telling me...u didnt read the list right, u overcharged us , for a product we dont want.....then u refuse to give me a refund?!?!??!?!

shop assistant: no you'll just have to ask the manager next week

me: and ill be spending another tenner beside the one ive spent today to get here...just to come back and "hope" the manager gives me a refund?! when you guys made the mistake.....that no reptile store should make?

me:.......actualy im not gonna repeat what i ranted and raved for about ten minutes in the shop. then at the end...they threatend me with police unless i leave the shop? ok what is goin on in this world.?


so anyways here r the facts

they're sellng un-necesary products to people and telling them if they dont buy them from the shop...their pets will die.

they're selling products at a 15%-100% increase in price for no apparent reason. (greed)

they're telling people leopard gecko's DONT need calcium powder (simply ??what??)

they're refusing refunds...when the costomer relises they've been duped. (im sure thats illegal)

let me repeat that one: REFUSING TO GIVE REFUND WHEN THEY GIVE OUT THE WRONG PRODUCT.

when they relised i knew my stuff and couldnt be fobbed off with rubbish like "leopard gecko's dont need calcium powder" "oh this is ok cos it has calcium in it"

ok after a little thought im gonna be damned if ill let this go. i have 2 options.

1.wait fro manager to come back and tell me leopard gecko's dont need calcium....then follow step 2 anyways

2. write a letter to the british trading standards. who will hopefully send out a reptile BOD to investigate the shop. this can result in a fine and a licience suspension.

im pretty sure ive allready choosen option 2. i cannot beleive a so called "reptile petshop" was trying to tell me leopard gecko's dont need calcium........

ok. pauline i took your advice and kept my cool while trying to post this in a way that can be un-upsetting to anyone via geckospot . but after today i just want to warn as many people as i can of what a joke that place is. and im sure they're be as...amazed at the response i got as much as i was.

Dude, I can't beleive it, well I can I guess. Our lamp bulb blew out and I sent it off for repair (it's still under warrenty) so I went into a shop to get a new one and got attitude because they didn't have a uva/b bulb and they were wanting me to get a basking heat bulb instead. They said that zoo med didn't make the bulb I was describing. ugg

If I was you, I'd go back to the store and go through it again with the manager. Let them know that if they don't comply, then you'll take further action. Maybe even print out some basic reptile info describing the need for calcium. Good luck man, I feel it for ya.
