I totally agree. Try being Muslim and growing up in a baptist household...I know about forced religion all too well.

But I also know that, even if you're not a minor, if you're living in someones home and you're not putting in for anything, you go by the established rules in the house.

At least that how it always was in my family. After I dropped out of college, I moved back in with my parents. I was still bound my the rules of the house. A few months later, I got a job and started kicking in on the bills. At that point, the rules were modified. I was no longer their child, I was essentially a tenet and had all the rights of being one.

But one thing I would advise against is being sneaky. My brother did that after he got caught. He was subsequently thrown out and spent 1.5years of the streets of NY, homeless. He was staying at a shelter at the World Trades on 9/11 and only b/c he witnessed some crazy stuff did my mother allow him back in. He no longer smokes even though he's now paying bills so he doesn't have the 'restrictions' that he used to. Don't make a bad situation worse...
