Google Adsense $132,994.97
I've been running Google Adsense on my own little blog and it has helped pay for a few nice things(laptop, a few nice lunches, etc.). So I was just searching around trying to see what kind of money other people made using Adsense and I ran into this guys blog (http://www.shoemoney.com). He has a check from a little while back, before Google did electronic transfers, and it's for $132,994.97 ! He even has a high resolution of it, it doesn't look photoshopped.
What's the deal on this guy? Is he for real?
The check is here http://www.shoemoney.com/gallery/v/m...check.jpg.html
and he claims his wife just got him a hummer http://www.shoemoney.com/2006/05/16/...r-my-birthday/
He doesn't seem to be trying to sell anything... I'm tempted to believe it, and I'm kind of motivated now too.Rouier Reviewed by Rouier on . Not exactely, I think what's here are called 'Ad Words' or something like that. Basically directed advertisement based on the words on the screen. If you'r reading a thread about laptops, then you'll usually see computer ads. Reading a thread about cars, then you'll see auto ads.
All of these ad scripts can be tricked to generate more 'clicks' and a bigger payout. Do a search for 'click fraud' and you'll come across some apps.

Heh, I remember back when download.com would track downloads, and put the top 10 apps into a once-a-week mailing to mailing list subscribers. Well, I had a piece of development software I had written circulating, and I used my software to create a small app that made download.com initiate a download for my software (but not actually download it, just went far enough to get 'credit' for the download). Then I let that software run all week, just to see what'd happen. My software ended up being like the 4th most popular piece of software in the world, according to Cnet.
They eventually discovered what I'd done and removed my software from download.com. Which didn't bother me, since the website I operated at that time (also for developers) was a much better venue for me to advertise it. I didn't actually ever defraud anyone of any money (nor would I), so I didn't feel all that guilty. Actually, I thought it was quite funny, that it worked so well.
