Cheapest way to do this.....

Basically I need to get a bunch of stuff, but I don't have a lot of money.

I'm gonna put the list, and for the people with the experience, could you please point me in the right direction to what the cheapest alternatives would be if there are cheaper ones, and where I should go about getting these things.


Note: I'm in Southern Maryland not many stores are around here for this selective work, mostly just garden places, or a Home Depot or something.

I need to get:

Potting Soil

Perlite

Worm Castings

Pots (or buckets)

Fertilzer for veg

Bloom fertilizer

A small fan

Root Hormone

And I think that's it.

So are there any specifically cheap yet still worth it and applicable for this use, kind of brands or companies out there that I should look for?

Is it alright to simply go out and find the most generic brands for all these things, and buy in bulk that way?

Utilize the internet...bring the grow shops to your door via online purchases, or, find a supplier and simply give them a call.

Don't buy bulk anything. Start small.

the cheapest way to get all of that is to steal it. try anyone in ur street who has a tidy garden: theit shed could be a goldmine!!

Stealing from folks = terrible.
Stealing from the gardens of governments and such = 100% necessary

Surpirsingly, the goverment locations use really good soil. Public gardens are a goldmine as well.

I made my grow area for under $50 CAN (est.), there is my list:

2 X 27W daylight philips bulbs (5000k, 1660 lumins, CRI:83) = $15
Pot = $1.15
Top Q Soil with peclite verm foilage = $3.50
Lamp Holders or desktop lamps = $10 & 15$; 2 in total
Power Bar [OPTIONAL] = $10
Miracle Gro = $5.50
Spray Bottle = $1.15
Aluminiom Tin Foil = $4
Cardboard Box = Free
Seeds = Free :rasta:
Fan [OPTIONAL] = $20

Total: $55 w/o power bar, fan

Of course these items arent needed if your using the wind from outside and lights inside.

My grow area is simple too, put the lights at each end of the plant (which should be located in the middle of the pot) about 1-2 inchs away from the leaves. Thats it. Place some foil around the lamps or in a cardboard box if you choose so.


So ya its not that expensive for your first time around

What did you use the spray bottle for?

Any special grow solution, or just for water?

oh for nuts and stuff
usually for miracle gro its 1 teaspoon for 4litres (indoors) or 5ml
get a 2L bottle, put a teaspoon of it in there along with other shit u wanna feed ur plant with (liek urine ), mix, then put it in the spray bottle.

Then every so often (3 days for me) I spray the plant. I usually spray until the top layer of soil is moist with the mixture. And I mean moist as in you cant feel any water running through the soil, damp in other words.

Its also handy for pesticides and such esp. for spidermites.

I dont know if you have something similar where you are, but we have Craigslist.org out here in California. Its a public website where you can just sell anything. Atleast out here...theres every type of grow equipment you can think of for atleast 50% off. Much of it brand new. I got a 250 watt HPS for $75.
