    Are you a hippy?

Another thing if you want to proclaim yourself as a so called "hippy"
you might want to check your date of birth, if you wasn't alive in
the late 60's early 70's you are only riding the coattails of a
    forgotten dream.

The American Dream is dead my friends!

Oh, but you have to be a part of the dream first, before you see the light.

    It will always be alive.

You just need to find the right people.

Go to a festival and then tell me the American Dream is dead.

Lol, pshh, it's not dead or even gone, it has just been sized down into 3-4 day-long festivals each weekend. That's the time when it's more than a dream. It's reality. That's why festy's ROCK.

I attended a lot of shows over the summer amongst a very broad, very pungent hippie crowd, and for the most part, fell in love with them and their lifestyle.

Most of the people we met we still full-on heads, but only during the summer did they "come out", and go festival to festival, most of the time without showers or a night's rest on a mattress. The music and the weed and the psychedelics keep them alive and going. It was amazing to be a part of it, to live like they did for even 4-5 days.

The day was so hot that people just traveled tent to tent, tarp to tarp, to find some shade and maybe meet a new friend. I only met a few rotten apples out of a shitload of people that weekend, and it just made me think realize how good-hearted and good-natured the heads really are.

I'll forever "be" a hippie or head, internally, but I'm sure my appearance will alter as the years wear on.

    Great post
Whether or not the American Dream is dead, Love shall prevail.
Appearance means nothing. Multi-colored shirts and lots of hair are merely icons associated with it, merely fads. It's all in the love.

    I didn't say it Hunter S Thompson did.....LOL
But I believe it is, it dies a little more every
day. Look at the current situation in america
and tell me that its not true. Are rights are
slowly being taken away from us. A dictating
bafoon sits in office making decisions that
will effect this country negatively for many
    years to come.

Well I must say that it's never Dubbya himself that should get the blame. A lot of the time, he's the government's "poster-boy" for any and all ridicule and criticism from the rest of the world. He's one man in front of many that run this country, so getting mad at only Bush is a little unfair, as much as he looks like an elderly chimpanzee... I hate most of the elected officials in America. Lol, there.

But that's also what I was kind of getting at by mentioning the festivals, because when you're at one, any thought or resemblence of any government is gone. You left that at the front gate. : )

Festivals are just simple, pure. You go for the music, to be thrown into the lifestyle so you almost drown in the notes as they float by yours ears. It's the music and the people, that's it.

Lol, then, sadly, you have to eventually pack up and head home, tails between the legs. They are a great escape from the exact type of shit that's happening now, all over the world.

    One love~

I'm artistic, liberal, passionate(which is, by the way, the perfect word to downplay an anger problem) and believe in crazy conspiracies. But I'm not a hippie.

Oh, and Its a Plant, I believe that Bush runs this country in the same way that Ronald MacDonald runs the fast-food corporation.

I agree with you Plant on both issues. Bush is a crazed puppet,
I know that man does not have the intellect to make political
decisions. He is ......well a moron, he was put into office for the
fact that he is a drooling idiot. I believe he just agrees with what
is put before him. So me calling him a dictator and focusing the
blame all on him was just a statement directing hate for this office
    of president.

And music festivals yes they are a grate escape and the feeling
you get from being with people that are on the same wave as you
are is good feeling. I really don't mean to offend people with such
brash statements as I have made I am only posting what I think.
Mass media has a lot to do with labeling groups, so if you never herd
the term "hippy" and met up with people that shared similar beliefs
you wouldn't think of that group as a stigma label but merely others
that you have things in common with.

    Are you a hippy?

Hey kids! you too can be a hippy!!! if you fit into the following catogories:

    1) do not bathe,
    2) have long hair
    3) take lots of drugs and
    4) read tim leary and hunter s. thompson, and proclaim them as the true gospels of your life. Lo! they are bringers of the GOOD NEWS!!
    5) john lennon is now your modern day saint. accept it.
    6) take up a heroin habit to be like janis joplin. quit it cold turkey to walk in the foot steps of john lennon. become like the master.
    7) graduate from a university to study organic chemistry, just so you can synthesize quaaludes and LSD in your clandestine kitchen laboratory:-)
    8) believe in free, careless sex without condoms with any willing partner.
    9) smoke at least 3 joints for breakfast.
    10) love eachother-- your anthem is now some hippy dippy song about loving eachother.
    11) if you beg for change to buy marijuana at the mcdonalds on haight street--and openly state that you will buy drugs with the money.

the american dream isn't dead, it's just changed. where people before wanted happyness, people now days want a fat pay check and an SUV. quite disappointing, if you ask me.

PS-the idea of hippy has been marketed and capitalized upon so long, that the term "hippy" is just a bastardization. original hippies came out of the Beat generation. But alas, these are the days when the beatle classic "all you need is love" is on a chase credit card commerical. what a wonderful world.
Could these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man?
