Somewhere on Erowid it suggests mixing an ounce of weed with a pound of butter, but you can always go over that if you want (if in doubt add some more). It also depends a lot on the potency of your weed, but chronic is pretty potent so you'll be fine.

as far as cooking oil YOU COULD just put an OZ of good ground-up bud in about 4-5 cups of cooking oil and store it in a cool dark place for a week. strain it out and your ready to use it to cook your favorite dish.(it's ok if it's green colored)most dishes will hide any taste left by the "plant matter" since you don't use heat in this method, very little vegtible waxes and oils are released from the bud, and the cooking oil should now have a very pleasant "hearty taste" and (depending on the potency of your bud) will be very potent.
ps. for REEEELY potent canna-oil try my recipe posted in the recipe forumA FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED, BUT A FRIEND WITH WEED IS BETTER!
