Emgs are overrated. Duncans and dimarzio if you want quality tone and sustain

duncans are good, emgs are good, it realy depends on what sound your going for. Personaly i like two humbuckers, thats what i have on both my guitars and it sounds pisser.

    Guitarist question - WHAT PICKUPS

on my sg epi i have obviously 2 humbuckers which i adore with their power and roar but i love single coils on the strat for its incredible clean tone so basically im looking that can go from piercing clean tones to incredible distortion lead guitar.
been looking at the gilmour pickups but i dunno if i want to go with them, i mean just because they were his mean that im gonna be able to get the same tone out of them as he did....

i plan on going to sam ash (guitar megastore) and talk to them... ive always liked there service and ive bought everysingle bit of guitar bass and drum equiment of mine from them i never liked guitar center, the one around me they are all ass the service is terrible... and they have no damn clue what they are talking about...

    Guitarist question - WHAT PICKUPS

Get a Seymour Duncan JB Jr. I have a regular JB in the bridge of my Gibby SG, and its one of the most recorded pickups on modern records.

Holy shit! Me and you both have the exact same guitars. I have a Fender Strat, single coils, that I also use for cleaner tones, and my SG ripoff, made by Fender though, have 2 humbuckers, the neck pickup equipped with a Seymour Duncan. I have a picture, check it out!

    What a cracy coincidence.

that is "great minds think a like"

i think i may try replacing the strat bridge with a seymour duncan single coil or lace sensors by fender and than i might actually replace my pickups on sg with some EMG's

you should send a mail to Pete biltoft at vintage vibe guitars.
He does custom windings for the same price as a set of seymour duncans and has great service.
