Fertlizer Question for soil grows
hi all,
getting ready to start my third grow. I have read and re-read the faq's and spent the night reading 300 pages of the growers bible.
my first grow i think i did too little......second i think i did too much.....trying to make number 3 "just right"
I was curious as to how you personally fertilize your grows in soil. i have heard people say every third watering, some say once a month, some say every watering....i have even heard "when they look like they need it"......the bible said once a fortnight? wtf is a fortnight?yeah i know its about a month.....just never heard that term used outside of college :stoned:
then the strength (using peters 20-20-20) choices range from 1/4 houseplant strength to full outdoor plant strength.
thought i'd see what you all had to say!djx759 Reviewed by djx759 on . Fertlizer Question for soil grows hi all, getting ready to start my third grow. Fertlizer Question for soil grows
Choice of soil is crucial.
It doesnt have to be any specific brand, but for sure have specific properties.
Organic soil mixes are prefered. Check the Organics forum for info on that.
Determine if you're wanting day-glo chemically fertilizers rinsing away your good soil. (They work for some, not many though. If you're using that sort of thing, always go 1/4 strength. If not, you'll find out right away what nute burn looks like.), otherwise...be on the look out for organic nutrients and who makes them.
Reading various grow logs will show you whom uses what for soil grows. Go with safe bet stuff tell you get more learned about growing.

Fertlizer Question for soil grows
im going chemical right now.......ultimately i plan on going organic, but all my limited mj experience so far has been chemical and i think i'm close to getting it right.
first grow ended up with 1 3ft tall pole with basically zero yield....seriously about 2 j's worth.
second grow, i bought the right soil and it has gone a whole lot better......looks like i will get at least 1 oz off of her, but here toward the end almost all the leaves have fallen off and the buds are loose. i posted another topic about that mess.
my idea is to learn how to get a decent plant first......then when i have a better idea of what i'm doing go organic on the following grow.

Fertlizer Question for soil grows
You must have good drainage in the pots. A layer of perlite or vermiculite (I prefer)... close to the bottom and generally mixed with the soil, works great!
