First CFL grow

The show is looking good yab. The fan leaves you cut off, where they blocking lower buds or upper buds? Also, how much stalk is bare on the bottom of your plants? All seems to be going well and I hope it continues.

Thanks kush all is going good, yes the larger fan leafs were shading
a lot of the bud sites on the top of the plant on the bottom I cut
the smaller branches and leafs that were not getting any light about
4 inchs on the bottom.

I am thinking seriously about setting up another larger
grow. The small two plant grow im doing now is great
but its like taking a girl to the prom and not getting laid.
I am going over some rough drafts of an operation I might
set up in the future. This will be set up so i can have a
constant cycle of plants going all the time. This maybe a
year or so in the making because unfortunately I might have
to serve some jail time in the near future.

Any ways here is a sketch I drew over a picture of the spot
I plan on setting it up. The air intake and out-takes are going
to be simple, the wall behind that goes to a laundry room I don't
use any more so i can connect the out takes to the old dryer vent
and let the intakes just sit in that room (2 intakes and 2 out-takes
all together I did not draw where the intake and out-take will go
on the mother and cloning rooms). I plan on getting some paneling
to use as doors to both sides so it will give the illusion of just being
a flat wall when the doors are closed and if i cannot find matching
panels I'll paint the room on the out side so it all matches with the
doors to the grow areas. Still undecided on lighting but most likely
will use MH and Hps for the veg and flowering rooms. The rooms
will be split in half horizontally as you can see in the sketch, giving
around 5x4 feet and 3 feet coming out for each of the 4 spaces.
I most likely wont need all that room for the cloning area so I could
raise the top of the mother room.

Man I just pulled the one of the worst moves I ever have, christ all mighty
im slick. I was removing some dead leafs from one of my plants and
when I reached back to get this big ass yellow leaf my wrist watch got
hooked on one of the strings I had the other plant tied down with
when I pull my hand back not knowing that the string hand got hooked
I snapped one of my plant stems in two right near the base, my favorite
one too. RIP little plant....Looks like some immature bud and some brownies
now. I am thinking about scraping the other plant and starting from scratch
cause that was the only plant out of the two i really gave a shit about
the other one has weak ass genetics I can tell from the budding sites.
I might just still be pissed about killing my favorite plant out of the grow
too I might let the other plant go a head and mature not sure yet if
I am just going to start over from seeds from a seed bank since I know
what CFL's can do now or carry out the rest of the grow with this one
plant that's left. And I just smoked a oven cured bud off that plant and
damn that was going to be some sweet bud if it would have matured.

oh man, that is f*cked up. I know you must be so pissed right now. Take an hour before you make a decision on the fate of the survivor....I still think it has a chance to be a good crop if given the opportunity. It could give you some serious buds if you spare her, while youre waiting for the other seeds to come?

I think it was this thread that got me thinking that CFL's may be viable light source instead of the HPS light I already have, so I ordered up a bunch of goodies that are in the mail to me now. I'd hate to know that the grow that inspired me met such a tragic end.

Man, sorry to hear about your misfortune yab. That is some bad karma there but I wouldn't give up on the other plant. Let it continue to grow. Any bowls you get from that plant are bowls you didn't have to pay for.

Also, what did you do to get jail time. Sorry to hear you might have to serve some though. If you do I pray that it goes well (as can be).

I looked over you grow set up and I have a few comments.

1) Make your flowering room the size of your veg room or just switch your veg and flower room cause you plants can double or even triple in size during flowering.

2) Make your mother plant room bigger cause a mother plant needs all the room she can get for the bush style she needs to be productive enough.

3) Cloning rooms can be small cause most clones only need to veg for a month and then can be set to flower. Of course that is good for a SOG set up and also for a perpetual harvest as well.

4) You will need at least 12'' of space between your top plants and all HID lights so be sure to compensate for that in your grow plans.

5) Squirel fans work good for intake and outake fans and are cheap as well. You may have to order those fans but some hardware superstores carry them as well.

6) In addition to intake and outake fans you will need circulation fans to move that fresh air around the plants.

7) You can continue to use the CFL lights as good side and supplemental lighting. Also, many top breeders and growers will suggest you use flouros almost exclusively for clones so if you have some extra flouros I suggest you do that.

Thats about all I can think of right now. Once again, I am sorry to hear about your misfortune but don't let it get you down. Shit like that happens to the best of us so keep on growing and let your green flag fly.

I guess I will finish this remaining plant off as in let it mature to
harvest not finish it off as in kill it LOL.

doco: I am glad that this grow inspired you towards using CFLs.

Kush07: I have to serve jail time for a 4th offense D.U.I. I know
stupid hu. I got three about 8 years ago and screwed up and got
out driving all messed up on x_n_xs <(edited for content LOL) last
december and got my 4th. Which is a felony charge here, man drug
offenders and DUI cases get more time than childmolesters sometimes
shows how ass backwards the US legal system is.
The DA's office just got my tox screen back a few weeks ago so my
trail is in Dec. It has been reset 3 times because of the DA not having
the tox screen so I have been living in limbo for about a year on this
shit. If it would have been tried on the first court date I could have
done served my time and been out. But really I am just glad I didnt
hurt anyone and I really cant deffend my stupidity on the fact that
I did drive while I was fucked up. I cant even remeber being aressted
I remeber waking up and thinking fuck this has to be a nightmare I am
in jail and it was, I just didnt wake up haha. Well good ideas come to
you when you have that much time to think while in jail so I'll have a
hell of an idea for a grow room when I get out.

Postman: Life is a bitch sometimes I hear you, bad luck comes in waves so I
am just wondering whats next, the gods are angry at me LOL must be all
that shit I did i cant remeber it must have been some bad shit though.
