If the government controlled our military, and used that against our citizenry, it'd not be nearly as close a fight as the Civil War. Little pop guns aren't going to pierce the armor on modern tanks. That's why we started using depleted uranium, because the munitions we had prior to that were having problems piercing Soviet armor, and I'm talking about weaponry *designed* to pierce heavy armor. One armored brigade comprised of our frontline tanks could probably wipe out every AR-15-armed Republican in the country. If we ever have to fight the government, I'd highly recommend that we not attempt that until we can disrupt control of our military in some fashion. Honestly, I don't think people have a clue as to just how overwhelmingly powerful our military is these days, especially when the various branches work together. I don't think even our own elected politicians really understand just how amazingly tough our military is.
