What does UPS usually do?
Alright.
First thing's first. UPS and USPS. Not related AT ALL. UPS is a private company, though huge, called United Parcel Service. USPS is the government, and it's called United States Postal Service. The two operate entirely different.
USPS is the post office. It does not interact with UPS anywhere along the line, and the post office does not know where your package is. In fact, they don't know where it is even if it WAS shipped through them. They don't track - period. They can tell you if it got there and when, if it's certified. Otherwise, you're not getting a peep from them. This is why they're who you want to use if you're going to be sending mj ... which honestly is a bad idea - please don't.
UPS - The United Parcel Service. We're a company, and we track each and every package that ever passes through. We also keep a record of who sent it, when, where it's going, when it should be there, when it got on a truck, who drove the truck, who drives the next truck ... basically so that we know who dropped the ball, or who to ask when something gets lost or broken. We also, because of that, insure every package for at least $100, and no, contrary to popular belief we're not just plain "more" expensive than the post office. We are, up until you get to a five pound package, then we're less. That's beside the point. If you got a tracking number, and it was shipped within the US, to a place also in the US, it's gonna start with 1Z. Otherwise, you didn't get a tracking number. If they shipped UPS, they DO have one, and they can give it to you - don't take a no for an answer. They also know EXACTLY what time and day it will be at your house. IF they don't, they're lying.
More to the point of what you're wondering - no, your package isn't at the post office and never will be. It wasn't sent back, either. It's at the local UPS hub, open from 2:30 to 5:00 every weekday, no saturdays. If you want to drive down and get it, do so. Otherwise, you're gonna have two more chances. Tomorrow and the next day, though in this case the next day is monday. Tomorrow if you're home when you need to be, they'll have you sign for it. If you don't show again, you've still got monday.
Now, due to all this tracking - PLEASE, PEOPLE, do not use UPS to ship mj if you ever do. And also, if you're going to use USPS, bring it right to the post office. Anyone along the line is legal to open it up if they feel like it - the post office itself is not. Keep that in mind.
Any other UPS-related questions, just ask me.
