How Do you Use Kitty Litter to control oder? Is it even possible?

Thanks for the Clearup. I have a small box with 2 chambers. Its 30 x 17 x 60/ I want to find a cheep way to eliminate some smell. Is my bets and easyiest solution to find some Carbon filter in a screen for mat and place it Over My OUtake Fans? Or should I take the longer route and build a carbon filter like the do it yourself one that is posted.
