well they look good right now, but if you don't want them to fall over and die because of there spindly stem you need more lights. If you dont have money to shell out for a mh or any other kinda hid lamp get some flourals for those because they need it. it looks like its just some hallogen light your using right now and i heard those arn't good for growing under. http://www.sharprubberduck.com good luck.

yeah, the plants require a specific color spectrum of light and your little bulb isent giving them enough of it =o( don't mistreat the herb or you won't get shit worth smoking cause it won't have the size or energy to bud (i think) buy some of those flourescent cabinet lights from home depot, i think they are like 6-10 dollars and their easy to mount.

personally i wouldn't put that light two inches above the plants. it dont look like flouros to me. back of the hand test sounds like good idea.

To be honest, I'd change bulb, if that even creates half as much heat as a standard bulb, your plants will fry at 2 inches, burn at 5 inches.
I'd get a mini fluro, you can get them at any diy store in the uk, and I'm sure home depot or something will sell them in the states.
Also, from reading the boards previously, many people kinda slam special "plant growing bulbs" as being crap.
Only going by what I've read, but at least with a mini fluro your plants can touch the bulb itself and not burn.

get yourself a Metal Halide, or High Pressure Sodium, that mercury vapor lamp you got (I think its a merc) isnt proper for gro'n.

got a few bucks, like 30? go to www.homedepot.com and in their security lite section they have a 70watt HPS for approx 30 bux (last yrs price), that'd be more than enough for 1 plant.
