Lighting info ???

Curious... Instead of paying alot of money for an entire bulb, reflector, and ballast setup online... I've seen bulbs at home depot for 30 bucks but what ALL do i need to complete the set up for an HPS 400 watt light? Mogul base, ballast? Where is the best place i can find this stuff? Online anywhere?

Try Ebay !!! My mate bought a 400w HPS + ballast for only $30 NZ........$15 US!!! Damn, that's cheap.

You will need a ballast without a doubt. Reflectors are always good if you don't want to waste precious light

You will not find the proper ballast at either home depot or lowe's. You will though find a 150 watt quasi-fully assembled hps security lamp.

Building your own is fine and all...but, good chance by the time you're done shopping and driving around, let alone dealing with stupid prices at your local electric shop...any money you think you're saving ends up being spent while getting what ya need for a DIY light.

One thing about the bubls at the hardware giants...they'll get ya by, but they're not exactly meant for agricultural use. If you're going to fork out loot...put it toward hardware more appropriate to what you're looking to achieve.

To put it another way...Lowe's and Home Depot are of little use when it comes to getting a kick ass grow light set-up.
