what do early buds look like?

hey this is my first grow and im not really sure if the buds have started yet or not.. i started it like late april and its probly 3-4 feet now. theres branches comeing off of it and the ends of the branches end in foliage as if its going to grow a bud(just like it looks at the top of the plant). im really just wondering if thats where the buds will begin.

You're outside. They aren't showing sex yet unless it's an autoflowering strain. Those are just spurs and aren't part of the flower. Wait until the nights are 12+hours long to start looking for the boys.
