Question regarding plant growth
I have a whole slue of questions that I need answers for J. Yes Im an ammy at this so bare with me.
Backround on the plant: 2 starting leafs, 2 rigid, 2 fresh (growing) rigid, a total of 6 leaves; all very healthy looking (very green). The weed started to grow mid last week from a seedling and developed a nice pair of rigid leaves by Saturday.
1. Is it normal for the first group of leaves to take 2-3 days to grow to about an inch? I figured that the greater amount of leaves = more energy for the plant which would explain why it grows like crazy during the veg.stage. Im kinda concerned since I finished buying my new lights yesterday to only wake up to almost half an inch of grow (on the 2 new leaves)!
I just finished buying some high Q soil (as the soil I have now is shit) and eager to plant the weed in it but the transplant may kill it. Reason being the PH in the soil may be off (cant test it) and maybe stunting growth although the plant isnā??t displaying any signs of it.
2. How fast do roots grow...in my starting container (about 2 inchs high) the stem is equal to the depth of the soil. Someone mentioned to super size my container but I am worried that it is too young to do so. However, the weed is only 1 - 1 1/2 weeks old so I dont expect the roots to hit the bottom of my container. When would be the best time to transplant? After how many leaves? Or is it all dependant?
3. Im also concerned over my new lighting as the grow I expected was not to my liking. Stats on the bulb:
Philips Marathon (Daylight)
5100k cool
CRI 83
100w/27w
flourscent
1660 lumens
On the back its says 6500k Cri 80, the above is based on customer support (2 different people too)
People have OKed this bulb to use to grow but Im still worried. Is this light suitable for the plant?

Question regarding plant growth
I think you need more lights maybe.
Growth is slow at first while the roots develope.
The bigger it gets the faster it will grow.

Question regarding plant growth
Hmmm would it be too early to take the plant out of the crappy soil and place it into a bigger pot with fresh new soil? Or should I wait til the stem develops a tad?

Question regarding plant growth
Just be careful when you do it.
dig up enough soil to take the root out without touching or ripping it apart.
And it will be fine.
They are pretty hardy little plants at that age.
For seedlings.
Just dig up the dirt under the root and it will be fine.

Question regarding plant growth
yes and when you transplant the plant into the new soil, hopefully it doen't have added nutes, just take as much dirt from the old pot around the plant and it's roots with it. don't try and break it up cause you'll kill the plant. Like it was said you might want a fw more lights, geta few CFL from the hardware store by you they will look cork screwed and will say 42W= 150W output these have 2600 lumens per bulb, get about 3-4 along with what you hav and you should get a nice plant.
