Let's consider..

The Counter Culture would fade away. No more 'heros' fighting The Man. No more big profits associated with it so no one would bother to develop it. All that great music, radical politics, the sense of righteous indignation that rises up to fight the Oppression--that would all vanish. Hell, even this board would disappear. People would just loose interest.

Yup, the magical herb would be robbed of all it's glory for sure....and this generation's hippies would become Conservative Religious Republicans just like the baby boomers did.
