Het Paardje in Den Haag is worth going to for a sweet night out.

Hello out of Amsterdam
As for the immigration info above....so, do you think an American can seek asylum in Holland? Afterall, I'm trying to flee a repressive country...the US does not allow free choice when it comes to same sex marriage, abortion, prositution, euthanasia or pot smoking. As the US moves closer to a theocracy run by the religous right, I'm giving serious thought to spending time in other countries, to see how others live....
What do you think Wotan? The Dutch are so rational and reasonable...do I stand a chance?

Hello out of Amsterdam
I am affraid not sorry. The thing is when you want to seek asylum you must come out of a country which is recognised as unsafe, or where your human rights are violated. Now the problem is that: even when you fit one of the criteriaâ??s and you can prove it, the Netherlands are supposed to take you in and by that make the statement that the U.S. is a inhuman country.
Now I can imaging a whole political war starting, resulting in even worse boycotts then North Korea suffers. The Netherlands will probably become one of the ashes of evil, especially when you think of the drugpolicy which is in US government eyes nothing more then the result of man- and willpower ... which is trueSo because of this I do not belief you have a change, but do you belief it?! you are not the first to try this.
(I once read on the internet, on some forum, a topic of an American who was trying to get asylum, but failed after failing and failing)

Hello out of Amsterdam
the whole theory of an "axis of evil" is biased and faulty, not to mention ignorant. I hate that fucking cowboy george bush, i hate what he is doing to this country and i hate what he is doing to the world. I want asylum in Holland because I feel that they are the most logical and liberal country.
I hope you are enjoying Holland you lucky bastardCould these sensations make me feel the pleasures of a normal man?

Hello out of Amsterdam
I assume the saying: the grass is always greener on the other side is true. I am not a big fan of Holland and prefer to move to Norwegian, that is also why I have studied Norwegian for 3 years, I donâ??t like the politics in Holland and the road the country has been moving on for the 20/30 years.
Actually upcoming Monday I will move out of Holland towards Fryslân, a much more layed back place. Without to much tourist and immigrants, not that there is something wrong per definition with an immigrant, but I prefer to have Dutch neighbours with who I can drink a beer, bbq and communicateAnd these are rare in Holland.
So Fryslân here I come (I am also born there), Fryslân is a bit like Scotland, or Catalonia for that part. It has its own official language, which is with Dutch the official language in the Netherlands. But it is lacking really big cities and therefore the immigration doesnâ??t come this far north. (immigrants seems to be attracted by big cities like: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, which are all in Holland), but to be fair, ages ago the Frisians immigrated out of Denmark and Sweden to this place (this is also why I have been brought up with a Scandinavian next to Dutch orientation.
The cannabis culture is lucky cultivated all over the Netherlands, and I am sure I will not miss much of Amsterdam. Actually I will live right in the centre of the capitol of Fryslân with five pubs, a fast food restaurant, a snackbar, two clubs, a theatre and a coffeeshop on the other side of the street. And a fitness centre as neighbours, a supermarket at the street corner (30 meter) and the station 100 meter away
When anyone ever happens to be in Leeuwarden (capitol of Fryslân, 45 min by car from Amsterdam ), let me know :rasta: Needless to say I am excited to get the key and move, I must have bugged and told a dozens of people about it
