Most good-sized four-year universities with colleges of arts and sciences have some sort of radio-TV-film programs. The easiest way would be to make a list of all the universities in the geographical area where you'd like to study, where you can afford to go, and where you can gain admittance. Then start researching their radio-broadcasting offerings by looking at their catalogs on their Web sites.

Down here in Texas, the University of Texas and University of North Texas both have big broadcast training programs. I'm certain Texas A & M and Texas Tech have them, too. I'm sure UVA has one in your part of the country. If you're like most people, the decision is going to be driven partly by where you can get in and where you can afford to study. Then you can narrow your options down by choosing the specific broadcasting program from that group.
