    Any photographers here?

    I like taking photos
I'm not too good at it, and the vast majority of them are of the sky
but still...I like to do it

lol I have 100s of photos all taken from the same place, and all of the same view.

dont use the digital camera...most digital, unless your willing to spend $1500 plus, are shit

ive got a canon EOS 650, Olympus OM-10, Olympus OM-2 and a pentax k-1000...but most of my photagraphy is done with pinhole cameras...and my two Olympus are broken, however.

your camera ae-1 is quite nice, but not the easiest to find lenses for

the minolta blows, sorry to say

35-70mm is a good all-around lense, and you usually wont need more then that....its nice, to have a fisheye lense, for cool effects (make the tower look like its really "towering" over you) and maybe a 70-110mm lense...the higher you go in magnification, the more steady youll have to be, and the more light youll need...so with a 110mm lense, your going to have about an 8 degree field of range...so definantly get a tripod

monopods and bipods are useless, IMO...but a tripod is essential

    one

    and another

A bad work man blames his tools

U can get quite good standard pics of a 35mm point and shoot

U don't have to get a state of the art device to take good photos. I'm not saying it doesn't help tho.. after 35-70mm in flamingskullballs post is usefull to me.. any more info like that floating in someones pipe smoke? (am i hijackin some one's thread by askin that?)

Digital cameras work great. I used to be a big film camera buff, but my camera equipment burned in house fire last year, so I replaced with a nice, portable 7.1 megapixel Canon PowerShot A620, which I've found is really quite feature-rich and takes stunningly good pics. I considered a mid-to-high-end DSLR, which would be more comparable to what I lost, and I may yet get one, but for now this little A620 is just fine. Really, the only downside to it is the inability to exchange lenses, but as long as I don't need super-telephoto power or fisheye-caliber wide-angle capability, that's not a problem. Oh, and it doesn't save RAW images, which is a mild bummer, but not a major issue.
