Any photo heads around? Pro, amateur, semi, whatever?

I'm thinking of seriously delving into it. I never really had the time, aside from when I was younger, to really explore. I have an old Canon AE-1 that my father gave me years ago. I need to get some work done it on it though. THen I have a Minolta Maxxum 370si which I've used here and there. I'm shopping for lenses for this one as I only have a basic 35-70 for it. I'm trying to find something (lense) with a good all-around range and nice selection of features. I also have a 5.1mp HP camera that's pretty good, but I think a trip to San Diego (the salt water) has caused some focusing/electronic problems.

So anyway, I'm shopping around for this lense and am going to start taking some pictures. Between the airport and the fields around here, I should have plenty of opportunity. If I really get into it, then I'll go ahead and get a digital SLR.
