books?
what might be a good "grower's guide" book? should i be concerned if i order such a book online? would like to do some reading.
i'll be moving out to portland, or in a few months and i'm hoping to start growing a small firsttime grow in a closet in an appartment. trying to gather all the advice i can.
i want to put together a good, energy efficient (relatively) quality system that will last me. don't want to spend a fortune, but i'm willing to spend to get good quality lights, seeds, filters, whatever.
so, i guess the second question is: where do i start? what do i need? clearly i'm a total noob and i'm going to just keep on reading everything i can here as well.

books?
oh, and here's another good one: when i'm appartment shopping: what should i look for in a grow room (closet)? just space? i don't have a lot of clothes so i figure i can just use the bedroom closet, but perhaps not because of noise? i'm thinking i might need charcoal filter, intake/exhaust and circulation fans running fultime? i certainly want to avoid smell, like i say want to avoid suspicion, keep it on the ultimate down low.
this grow will be for myself only and a few close friends. i have no desire to sell; i've no prior criminal record and would like it to stay that way. i know to keep it secret, pay with cash, etc.

Barnes and Noble stores sell grow books, and you can pay cash. I got the Jorge Cervantes indoor book there and combined with reading old posts here and the FAQs you get a good sense of what you need to grow.
Apartment shopping... Yikes. The most important part of growing in your apartment is your landlord. They should be busy, absentee, and not use a property manager who likes to come snooping around. Don't rent in a building that has a super with too much time on his hands. Seriously I would never grow in rented space. I don\'t claim to know the first thing about growing anything; hell, I can\'t make a Chia pet sprout.
