Soil/ Rockwool/ mixtures. HELP
Sprouted in a papertowel, yesterday moved them into 1" rockwool cubes, the long run will be a soil, not rockwool, I think even for the first few weeks I will dump the idea of rockwool, I dont have any PH or whatever to add to the rockwool, Ive read lesser great things about rockwool, seems costly and kind of a pain. I preffer soil.
So I want to take the little seedlings out of the rockwool, they havent rooted to it or anything and put it in soil. I have Pure organic compost, whats the difference between compost and soil? Same thing? I also need to know what to mix with it (Pro-lite) and if it will be ok to start the sprouts in just the compost. Untill they hit bigger pots.
Bottom line, I decided against rockwool, going with all soil, wondering what and when to mix. The basics...Classicalboy57 Reviewed by Classicalboy57 on . Soil/ Rockwool/ mixtures. Soil/ Rockwool/ mixtures. HELP
this is just my opinion.
leave the little sprouts in the small rockwol cubes.
mix the compost with potting soil.
put seedlings(rockwool cube and all) in the pots of soil and compost mixture.
it wouldnt be a good idea to pull the little seedlings out of the cubes, even tho you dont see any roots coming from the cube, they still have small delicate roots still pushing their way to penetrate the cube.
pulling them out would damage the delicate roots they do have, and they would die.

Soil/ Rockwool/ mixtures. HELP
if you have em in a humidome, check them every day and lift the lid to circulate new air. once they sprout out of the cube, plant them in your soil mixture, watering them when needed
