Basic growing
Hey, im looking for some help from experienced growers, i have never grown a weed plant before or any other kind of plant but im interested it learning.
so i have a few questions, and if you could tell me any other information you may think i might find useful then dont hesitate.
I know some of thse may sound like nooby questions but i suppose i am a noob when it comes to growing so dont flame me for it please everyone was a noob at one stagelol
- Do you have to use UV lights or can you just use normal lights? (If you can use normal lights how many watts would they have to be?)
- How tall can they grow up to?
- Whats the difference between a male and female plant?
- How often do you have to water it?
- Does it have to be kept in somewhere with a certain temperature? and if so what is that?
- (I've never understood this) Why do people use foil? what does it do
- How long on average do they take to grow
- If i was to grow it indoors in a dark room would a light have to be hanging down and if so how bright and how many watts and how far would it have to be form the plant
Thanks in advance im really interested in growing and with your help i can do it :thumbsup:cannabis campbell Reviewed by cannabis campbell on . You're supposed to use a highly reflective wall covering to make your lighting more efficient. Unwrinkled mylar (either from a grow shop or in desperation emergency blankets from the camping section of wal mart) is the best. Next best is flat white paint. Tinfoil is way down there.

To start off, plain old flourescent shop lights are perfectly serviceable. One aquarium tube and one cool white tube in the fixture. They should be almost touching the tops of the plants. You will need to be able to lift the lights as they grow. As they get taller, if you still are using flouros you have to add more, and side lighting. When you are ready to flower them, expect to fork over some cash for a REAL ag light, a nice HPS. A 400w will do a little more than a square meter of floor space. You can push it; I've got 2x400w illuminating 24 flowering plants. So the trick is to keep your plants kind of short. You'll see if you look at peoples grows. A 400 throws some heat and should be around a foot above the tops, with a fan blowing on the light.

Dude, you really need a complete grow guide to study, be it books, DVD's, etc. Study, study, study. Then, use the forums to fill in the blanks.

3. Vise grips. Use for making things, duh. Aslo good as weights if you want to angle your light reflector.
4. Small but powerful staple gun. Tack up mylar (reinforce with duct tape first, see #1), put up room dividers, shoot at intruders.
5. Lightproof plastic and tarps. Hundreds of square feet. Trust me.

7. Shop vac for cleaning up after mixing media. Never underestimate the importance of a CLEAN grow op.
8. pH testing kit of some sort
9. Spray bottles, at least 4, for different applications. DO NOT MIX UP. You'll want one that delivers the finest spray possible for pest control, foliar fertilizing, and even just giving your plants a lil' shower.
10. Graduated cylinder or a big 100mL syringe like the kind for giving medicine orally to livestock. Not with a needle, just tube &plunger. This is for measuring ferts.
