Once he took control of everything, then he started going nuts with invasions and concentration camps and what not, but before that he was probably one of the best liked political figures in Europe. People placed their hops and dreams with him.

It's easy to turn around once you have enough power that no one can stop you. I'm afraid that this might happen in the US too...
