That's true Sawleaf, and for that getting rid of Saddam was good, I guess.

But like I said in another post, there were so many horrible in the world and so many horrible and bloody civil conflicts, but the US didn't do anything about them. There was Pol Pot in Cambodia, I don't remember any air strikes ordered against him (I use this example a lot because my girlfriend's family used to live there, but managed to escape to Canada in 1981, I believe). There is currently a very deadly war going in Sudan right now. North Korea is a virtual prison state.

This is my problem Torog, and I'm sure a lot of people's problems.

When will you understand that America doesn't give a flying fuck about people? When will you notice that only people you're trying to 'liberate' are the people in the Middle-East? There are bad dictators all around the world, yet Bush probably can't even pronounce their names because they don't have valuable resources that you could use.

Hmmm... Is it a coincidence that Iraq has one of the largest oil reserves in the world? Probably not, right?

Well I believe the US does care about people, but just not enough to justify spending government money without getting something back in return. It is sad, but we are pretty much a selective ally. Give us something in return and we will help you out.

The whole point of freedom is the right to choose yet the US has shown contempt for the democratic process on more than one occassion.
Support for Pinochet against a duly appointed democratically chosen "communist" leader.
The idea that "communists" are evil is ridiculous , the paranoia shown in it's dealings with anyone who does not conform to the american ideal is insane and the propoganda machine goes haywire , what is americas obsession with "enemies"??

Another point I have noticed is the inability to argue their point leads to an attempt to ridicule or to discredit those with an opposite view.
The level of ineptitude in dealing with home problems (enron / microsofts monopoly) (pharmaceutical rip offs) should be your main concern .

Are Americans really concerned with democracy and freedom? Well, tell me this. How many Americans know what happened in the Ukraine a few months ago? What sort of media coverage did that get in the US?

I'm not gonna go into specifics, cause if you don't know, find out for yourself. Suffice to say that if the US does indeed care for democracy and freedom all over the world, they would have certainly made some public remarks about the situation, yet I didn't hear about anything.

Torog his mentioned having back-pain and that his wife is liberal, so my theory is that he probably thought marijuana was for tree hugging liberals until he started having back pains and was introduced to it "medicinally" by his wife. Then ended up liking it it too much and thus uses the pain as justification to get high. Or maybe im wrong completely.
