I REALLY hated it the first time I watched it.. Couldn't see what the fuck was going on man... lol..

I was soooo stoned.. But then I watched it again (because it's a must see movie) and it was pretty good.. Now I've seen it very often

It's just a damn good story overall. It takes a serious yet so funny look at the world of drugs.

Well, in this case, I'd say see the movie first. I think because once you see the movie, you'll be like, "Man! That was fantastic! Now let's see how the book expands on this..." It's not one of those movies where you watch it and think, "Meh, I saw the movie, no need to read the book."
