the only pain is the hydroton cleanup.. people say throwin rockwool away after one use is bad.. I would GLADLY throw away rockwool.. you can have a huge box shipped to you for next to nothing because its so lite..

It's kind of nasty stuff to get rid of. If I had to choose between media, #1 would be hydroton, #2 coco coir, and #3 rockwool. Used to work at a commercial greenhouse using rockwool, that shit dries, powders, gets in your lungs, you'd think you were dying.

hydroton is a TOTALLY different story.. heavy as hell..

Yeah, paid $150 in freight to have it shipped. Crap.

if you dont have a garage you are carrying a very wierd product into your place.. causes unwanted interest.. bad news..

Better yet, fucking DHL leaves the big, UNWRAPPED sacks of rocks on my steps instead of on the porch where it's hidden from view. Nice thing to come home to. I practically had a heart attack. My yuppie neighbors... well, I keep giving them fresh homegrown tomatoes and they haven't showed any interest

and recovery of hydroton SUCKS... does anyone have a good method for cleanup of hydroton??

Yeah, put it in a big sturdy rubbermaid. Agitate it with your hands. Use a strainer to scoop roots that float up. Add peroxide. Let it soak overnight. Dump and refill, let it soak again with just water.
