ultrasonic misters-> BS??
Ok guys there are a bunch of new commercial products coming out called "aeroponics" with ultrasonic misters.. i tried it myself and had absolutely no luck..
one placed in a DWC/drip just gave me a horrible mold problem.. one used as an aerocloner just killed all the clones.. and worst of all after about two weeks of use the ultrasonic thing was dirty so i took it apart.. cleaned it.. put it back together.. and it never worked again.
it heats res up to like 90F which is great too by the way
So... myth busters?? I think they are BS.. any one have a better take on it?Aaron385 Reviewed by Aaron385 on . ultrasonic misters-> BS?? Most of the time, people trying to use foggers are using the ones designed for making little bird baths/ponds look fogged. Those will work but are not the same variety that are being used for hydroponics. I am fairly certain that only one company is using the proper technology to produce fog for hydroponics as they have a patent on the technology. I have never used one for this reason. I have heard that they are prone to failure and I know they are expensive. They are not BS. If you have the right one, and the correct setup to use it, they will produce better then what most hydro people call aeroponics. In all honesty, fogging is the most true form of Aero but, Aero has taken on a different definition to make it feasible to the average person.

cant argue that.. and in all fairness whenever i pulled the plug on the thing it could have been other circumstances.. except when it got dirty and failed.. after working for like two weeks

Im in love with ebb and flow now so theres not much room for it in my life anyways.. ahh the ease and room for error of ebb and flow.. so nice! sure it may not be the "BEST" but it is dirt cheap and simple as hell.. and the yeilds are freakn good enough!

Hear, hear. Any yahoo can build one, out of anything imaginable. Trippruss has one in a kiddy wading pool. It's hilarious... and productive as all hell.

yep.. thats nifty! ideas.. ideas..
the only pain is the hydroton cleanup.. people say throwin rockwool away after one use is bad.. I would GLADLY throw away rockwool.. you can have a huge box shipped to you for next to nothing because its so lite.. hydroton is a TOTALLY different story.. heavy as hell.. if you dont have a garage you are carrying a very wierd product into your place.. causes unwanted interest.. bad news.. and recovery of hydroton SUCKS... does anyone have a good method for cleanup of hydroton??

It's kind of nasty stuff to get rid of. If I had to choose between media, #1 would be hydroton, #2 coco coir, and #3 rockwool. Used to work at a commercial greenhouse using rockwool, that shit dries, powders, gets in your lungs, you'd think you were dying.

nice.. I got a can fan the other day drop shipped from the manufacturer in the can fan box.. nice.. big full color pic and everything on the outside of the box..
That hydroton method sounds about like what I do.. h2o2 overnight.. except i get some rocks that float and some sink.. some roots float and some sink.. pain in the ass.. ive been thinking about the coco stuff.. just sticking with what i know works for now.

Well I picked up a couple of these, couple of questions for you. How big is your res? I running 13 gal or so of mix and I will run a cycle timer in an effort to keep heat down seems like the fog hangs out for a while. I think if temps are kept right this could be great, it doesn't seem like it should be too difficult to clean when I change out my res.

I've experimented with NutraMist foggers.
They're not misters, they're foggers. They create a "dry" fog.
If you make a search for my posts, and the 'NutraMist' keyword, you'll find loads of stuff.
