    lumens help!

    Well,

I would say you're going to want a least 250watts on the mothers. The clones are going to depend on how many clones your working with.

    Loco

So if you have a 400 watt light.
Thats a 2 by 2 foot area to grow in.
As far as lumens go, I think 2,000 is the bare minimum you would want per square foot. 3,000 - 5,000 lumens per square foot is better. The higher the lumens the better the grow, theoretically speaking. But I think for indoor growing 4,000 - 5,000 per square foot is ideal.

BTW, I can't quite remember if it is square foot or meter...

Minimal Lumens for survival: 2,000 p/sq. ft.
Minimal Lumens for good growth: 5,000 /sq. ft.
Minimal Lumens for Max growth: 7,500 / sq. ft.

Watts are meaningless without factoring lumen AND kelvin temp output of lighting.

    Lumens
    Kelvin Temp
    Distance from Canopy

    All work together.

    Good Luck.

Im still a bit confused. In a video i saw he had three two bulb fixtures that where four foot flourescents for his two mothers and clones. How much lumens is that?

4ft floros don't get much more than 4000 lumens of output. The ones I have are only 3400lumens/per tube(used as side-lighting).

4 40 watt HID Bulbs will only get you about 1900 lumens per bulb so 9600 lumens, Which is the same that I'm running just until I put them under the 400w HPS which gives off between 45000 and 55000 depending on the bulbs. Which is more than enuff for a 5 x 5 ft space. Peace
