Harsh!!
Hi there all... I have just taken about 20 buds off the top of my plant that were ready for drying.. I have but the buds in paper bags in the cupboard. Once i have dryed for 5 days then cured in glass jars for 2 weeks will it be a nice smoke cos at the moment it doesn't smell potent enough and it smells kinda home grown?? I also dryed a tiny bit in foil in a cool oven to have a long waited taste, it was a little harsh on the throat but it definately did the trick!! Any tips for some nice bud would be fab!!

Hello,

Yes, after you properly cure your harvest it will obtain a more pungent aroma and a smoother taste.
The longer you take to dry and cure your buds the better the results will be.
I like to keep the buds on the plant and harvest the whole thing at once. From here it hangs in a cool dark closet. I let this hang until the fan leaves start to dry. I then cut them off and let it continue to hang until I can "mostly" snap off a good sized branch.
At this point I finnish off all the rest of the trimming and put them in paper sacks for around two days. From here they go to the jars where I try to prolong the "sweating" of the buds for as long as I can. Finally I will then leave them to the jars for the curing. The initial drying part lasts around two-two and a half weeks. The curing part lasts for around two and a half-to three months.
At this point the herb comes out (in my opinion) damn near perfect. Great taste, aroma, and nice and smooth.
Hope this helps.
Peace

Thankyou.. I will take most of your advice but if i'm being totally honest i can only see me curing for 2-3 weeks as i am desperate to try my first crop!!! I have about 4 oz's once dried i reckon so the last couple to be smoked should be delicious.. :-)

Hello,
Your welcome. I also could not wait and I knew so from the begining, so once my first harvest was among me I went out and bought an Ounce to tide me over and then dipped into my buds a little in the last month or so. Once I got the continuous harvest up and running I was able to work it so that I only dipped into the "cured" bud once it was ready.
Take care
Peace
