I like Tom Petty. He was the main act I wanted to see at this year's Bonnaroo. Unfortunately, he and his band are almost too good. It was like listening to a CD, it was so perfect. But that kind of perfection sort of detracts from a live performance. (Boston is like that too.)

Used to like him when I was young...some of the first songs I ever heard as a child were most likely by him and the Heartbreakers thanks to exposure from my parent's music tastes.

Can't say I care too much for him anymore though, heh...

Petty is a top shelf rocker .... Mary Jane's Last Dance is one of my favorites ....

When you're good for a long time, sometimes the sound can seem old on newer lyrics .... and any concert will always leave out too many songs .... simiiliar to what's happening to Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen ... but he is clearly one of the greats, IMO.
