grow box...plz comment

ok so i wanna start a grow....and its going to be a stealth box, however i am not going to be able to get away with any more than 2ft height....i know its close to nothing but i wana try and make it work. basically the inside will be all painted white, i will have 4 23w CFL's and 2 15w....dont ask me how im going to fit them in yet lol, any suggestions? (besides a different box? lol)

i was hoping to fit them in mayb i could get those things that divide 1 socket into 4....then another that divides into 2...the pots arent going to be too big since i dont have a lot of space, prolly 2-3gal....prolly no more tho. my plan is just to LST the crap outta these plants....just when they start getting to close to light, pull it down and down and down again.

anyone think this is going to work? anyone think its DEFINITALLY not going to work? any ideas on yeild? (obviously not much)....i just wanna get some experience ...heres the pic

The light fixture from a ceiling fan and a pizza pan is what I used for a trashcan setup - should work fine for you... then maybe add the additional sockets in the side walls?

Might need to go a little taller, or rethink the pots - as the 2-3 gallon pots themselves will be ~ 10-12" tall (think how tall a gallon of milk is....). then the fixture will need ~ 4-5 inches of clearance from the ceiling.. Not much room left in there

You can buy melamine (i think thats what its called) boards to build it out of -they have a flat white finish on them already like the premade cabinets have and it doesn't chip off, plus less prepwork and no possible problems from paint smell

You'll need some way to move/exchange air, and then what about the lovely aromas that come up in the later months? Since you mentioned stealth this will be an issue.

Yield - tough to say but w/100ish watts of CFL its not going to be a huge amount regardless of method. Are you going with clones or seed? In that small of a space I'd suggest a SOG to maximize it, but this ups your plant #'s considerably (if thats an issue)

good ideas....thx for help , and no, # of plants doesnt matter...any suggestions w/ the SOG?....and yeah ur right about 2-3gal pots lol, as for ventilation i was gonna put a couple holes in the box and i have a 12" fan that would b blowing on them. im still not positive of what it will b made of....but i will consider what ur talkina bout. btw for a SOG in there....how many plants could really fit?

as for light fixture...im pretty sure i can buy those things that divide into 4 instead of tearing apart a fan lol...btw....a trashcan grow is stealth as hell, gj lol. any ways peace out.

Where is the fan gonna go? - heh if inside the box you are really running out of room ;P

Is the box gonna be in a closet or something? The holes in it for ventilation, they have to be positioned to make sure the light wont get in when its not sposed to.. not to mention keeping light inside (Whats that box with the light coming out of it?)

2' x 1.5' - maybe 12-15 plants in a SOG setup. Basically, you flip the lights to 12/12 as soon as they are rooted and growing, making it so each plant is one bud, the top cola, and no side branches. The plants above are ~ 2 weeks after rooting, the square pots are roughly 4x4 so if you pushed it, you could fit 18 of them in 24"x18".. For SOG though you will almost need to start from clones instead of seeds - Do you have access to clones? from seed will be tough in a small box like you want

ok i know this maysound dumb to u....but its under my bed...(big bed...and under it is like a storage compartment no1 goes into lol)...as for clones...i dont have access to them ...and yeah u r right...ive heard SOG w/o clones suck....so mayb next time around...but until then maybe just get some good clones from one big plant?...btw about the fan....good question...i have it already but not sure how thats gonna work lol...i was thinkin just holes and no light gets under my bed...but ur right, what about the light leakin through....hmmm ill figure somethin out....any suggestions? hahaha....im really tryin to get things figured out b4 istart...cuz i didnt b4...and i pretty much wasted like 30$ .....anyways....i appreciate all the help...god knows i need it lol...btw w/ SOG...and the amt of lights i have how much would each cola get approx?....again thx

As far as light leaks you can build a duct that "zig zags" and will cut down on the leakage.. possibly eliminate it altogether. But theres still nothing to control odor, which should be your #1 concern in a stealth (or most any) type of setup.. 125ish CFL watts, first time grower... if you pull 2 ozs (total)then you are on the right track.

Just looking at your drawing, I'd put the intakes on the other side of the box and low, with the fan blowing out from the top opposite side. This way it will draw the cooler intake air across the ladies and up and out.. not to mention that heat rises, so the heat from the lights will be exhausted more efficiently as well. Have the 12" fan exhaust and blow into a homemade scrubber using kitty litter pearls (instead of carbon) and it should control the smell fairly well.. the CFM of the fan is very important - what brand/model is the 12" fan?

sry...got it a while ago...dont have the box anymore...but it was 15$ from target....its got some power too....i think the lowest level might eeven b a little 2 much for plants lol...andyea i agree about the intake holes at top....i was planning on building those zigzag things across all3 holes...as for hav it on opposite side...i dont want some1 to go under my bed and c a box....w/ a weird thing on the side lol (for theholes)...so it would kinda blow my cover....would it not b fine just like it is? as for smell....still not positive on what to do...i guess i should look kup how to make a carbon scrubber but use kitty litter lol....btw....2oz? lol, most iveheard so far is if i do evrything perfect 1oz haha....guess i may have something to look forward too now

Well all things considered, 1g/watt is doing well with horizontal High powered lighting.. so I'd hope you could do 1/2 that

I mean intake holes on the right side low, exhaust out the top left... I don't get how the box is situated that it would be seen

Under the bed? Ventilation may be an issue, and what if there are electrical problems? You don't wanna burn the place down lol make sure you know what you are doing and insulate/ground everything.

Theres plans to build a scrubber out there somewhere.. I can try and dig up pics of my old one to give you an idea

sry i wasnt clear on situation...basically under my bed can only be accessed through one place...its the front, there are 2 doors that u open and its an enclosed area, but for air there is some space between the bed and wall. so really all the stuff on the box or around it i want it to be in the back....thats y i planned for intake and exhaust holes to b both int he back, i want it to look like just a box....just full of shit that no1 cares about lol. about 1/2g per watt...i hope i can do it lol, but idk, for CFL's ive heard about .3g per watt....so idk, but i think i can do pretty good cuz ive read an insane amt of growing lol. and i continue to read and learn more. about the firehazard...idk, cfls really dont get hot...like i can hold one the whole time its on, and the fan will b blowing in, so...as dumb as this sounds....i was thinking of taking a cardboard box, putting a couple layers of duct tape around the inside...then painting it white for good reflection....i really dont kno how a fire woud happen. there wont b enough heat in there to start one. also for electrical, a couple days ago i checked our circuit breaker...and one goes to just my room...and i did all the math and crap...and there is a lot of watts that arent being used. outta my whole room only things that are on is computer, tv, stereo (sometimes)....and there is like 2400w to be used or something...im not sure how much watts a comp or tv uses but im sure i will b fine w/ using another 100-150ish....

any comments? thx for help man, i appreciate it
