Pothead4204life Reviewed by Pothead4204life on . CFLs....warm/coolwhite i know coolwhite is the best u can use for veg and warm for flower.....but since i dont really wanna buy both types for differnet times of growing i would like to know if its possible to do a whole grow w/ warmwhites (mainly cuz i dont c any coolwhites around here :( ).....i mean i think either way it equals out i think...like a ton of nodes but shittier flowering cuz its not right spectrum....or a little less nodes but the right spectrum of light for flower so its at its best (besides HPS lol) Rating: 5

The term that should be looked for on the packaging is 'full spectrum'.
Bulbs designed to emulate the color spectrum of the sun are the ones that will provide MH lamp-like growth, at no where near the temperature or operating cost.
I'd also advise keeping CFLs more than an inch away from the leaves. 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 is more ideal for keeping the temperature of the leaves closer to where they can do more with the available light without having to expend energy keeping itself cool.
The ballast of CFLs is the hottest part...be sure to keep that part of the bulb above the leaves.

I forgot but I think they use about 42 and emite about....73. It's some where in that range, probably not exact but it's a good deal. And actually I couldnt find any warm whites at Wal Mart lol. I almost thought I was out of luck with the cool whites too because I only saw like 2 day whites and the rest were soft whites but just look around and you'll find. The ones I found didnt say cool whites on the front, they were on the back and I bought them
