I'm not sure where you heard that, but growing plants in the cold does nothing but stunt growth. Cold weather will also turn your leaves purple. Pretty, yes, but it is a sign of stress. The leaves turn purple because the flow of nutrients is stunted, so they turn purple, thus, stress.

Just get a good genetic, take care of your babies, and you will be rewarded. Don't make growing complicated. KISS=Keep it simple stoner.
