Iran's military has been put on high alert. Syria's military is also on high alert. Lebanon has begun moving troops south towards their boarder with Israel. And of course, Israel has called up all of its reserves and is moving troops north towards Lebanon, saying that they just may march all the way through it. Who made all that technology available to them? They would be just as weak militarily as the rest of the middle east if it weren't for the U.S. We allowed them to develop in that manner.

This isn't really a fight over two kidnapped soldiers. That's Israel's excuse to launch major offensives against their enemies. But probably none of this would have happened if Iran hadn't pushed the "attack Israel and get the U.S. off our backs" button.

Israel's in a tough position here. If they just let extremist groups kidnap their soldiers and lob missiles into their cities, their citizens get pissed, and their enemies get bolder and the attacks on them get worse. So they *have* to do something. And since the Lebanese government has basically zero control over the extremists running amok in their country, Israel can't just ask politely if the Lebanese government would please keep people inside their country from lobbing missiles and staging attacks from their territory - the Lebanese government can't do anything about it.

Put yourself in the position of the Israelis. Let's say some extremists in Mexico start staging attacks into U.S. territory and kidnapping and killing people, and lobbing missiles at our southern cities. We ask the Mexican government to make these people stop doing it, but they say (and it's true) that there's nothing they can do. Do you think the U.S. would just shrug it off, and say, "Okay, sorry you can't do anything about it, so we'll just be peaceful and watch the missiles blow up our cities, no big deal, we have other cities." Hell no, that wouldn't happen; the U.S. would go kick some ass and either make the attacks stop, or eradicate the attackers entirely.

The U.S. and Israel pushed this button in the hopes of provoking Iran directly. I'm not a conspiracist, but let's get the events in order. One Jewish soldier was kidnapped by Hamas, and Israel uses disproportionate force. Yes, they have enemies and these enemies have a legitimate bitch with the Jews.
