How in the hell did I get busted!?

I was smoking outside a few days ago, really secret like, and afterwards I came inside to watch a little tv and get something to eat... My mom came downstairs and pretty much snuck up on me with a mouth full of cookies and my headphones on, I went and sat down on the couch and she asked me what I was doing, I told her I was watching TV and she grabbed me by the shirt and smelled my breath. Asked me why I was smoking weed. I denied it as best I could, but she said she can smell it on me, I denied it still but then she started asking me all these questions about where I got it and why I was smoking it... Say what? I ate eating garlic pizza, cookies and some cake, and was done smoking an hour and a half ago, how in the hell could she smell it on my breath!? I thought all that food got rid of the smell.

Out of all the ways I thought i'd get caught, my breath was the last of my worries. I no longer feel safe smoking anywhere anymore, regardless of how secretive I am about it, someone could always just smell my breath and give me away.

Has this ever happened to anybody else? Is there any surefire way to get rid of the smell? I can't believe I went out like this...

doesnt really sound like it was your breath that set her off....
obviously she wouldnt have smelled your breath if she didnt already suspect you smoking. she probobly caught on a while ago and was just waiting for you to get stoned again so she could bust you

That's exactly what she was doing, I know... however, she was so sure about it. As a matter of fact, she smelled my breath yesterday and again claimed I was high(brushed my teeth), but after I got pissed off about it and told her to stop being so damned suspicious she didn't say anything more about it. I'll have to ask her, maybe I could have dodged a bullet if I just would have been more agressive about it. Still, she knows I smoke cigarettes, yet she said it was weed she smelled.

How long does weed usually last on your breath? Could she have been bluffing?

Lol, that's one thing my buddy said to me one time... "Dude, it's not like your mom is going to get up in your face and be like let me smell your breath!"

As far as her bluffing, I think she might have been. Maybe he's just trying to get you to admit that you smoke. But really, she doesn't have any proof that you do. Ya know what I mean?

I can remember this like it was yesterday! I was 18 and it was 2 am I was trying to sneak in the house with my pocket knife. All of a sudden the door comes flyin' open and she grabs me much the same way yours did! She says" ooooo you reak with it! I said,Do what? She says you know exactly what I mean young man! Oh shit!
