almost everybody is gonna tell you to build your own for cheaper, but if you really got $1500, and you are already considering buying one...

lets make a rundown of what it would cost you to make

    locking Cabinet 80
    Mylar for interior 20 100
    400W ballast 160 260
    air cooled hood 130 390
regular bulb 30 420 OMG smoke break o yeah
    conversion bulb 70 490
    flexible exhaust 10 500
There Hydro setup I have no idea, but i bet it would retail for 400-500
    1000
    there nutes 100
Ozone Gen They claim 450 1550

    timer & fire alarm. 30 1580

Not including all the time gather all the supplies & putting that together.

1580 (my running estimate IMHO) is more than they are asking (1500)

anyone care to blow me outta the water?

I would definitely say that there 14 site hydro setup is a bit overkill. You could build your own, with the ultrasonic fogger for 100. They are using a quality product, instead of using cheap Rubbermaid DIY setups, like others. But that 14 site setup would work a lot better in a less confined space.

Also keep in mind that you will probably want a place to keep your mothers, so you can grow perpetually.

Well, For one with out the hydro set up they only take off $100, so I don't know what it is really worth. 2. I went to their sight and if you go you will notice that they have a message board. When I started reading the post I was thrown off. Several people, almost everyone said that the sheds run much hotter than advertised, right off the top when reading the fine print of the moderator on all of his posts replying to the heat problems he says that the units have to be kept at least a foot away from the wall with a house fan pushing hot air from the area for optamal, bad spell, results. Some of the posters stated that it was a poor build quality. And I found a couple posters that said the scrubber and Ozone gen didn't do anything to kill the smell. I am sure that there is more, but I can't remember right now.
One other thing, quite a few posters said that with heat issues that these units should not be placed in a closet, but I guess you could vent the closet, but that seems to defeat the purpose a little of spending all that money on a fully self contained system, if you have to add more to make it functional.
I have herd a few more good things about these www.homegrown-hydroponics.com/mistgrcaw17h.html
The only thing, they don't have a message board to hear about the real life use of these units.
    Well good luck

Well, if you were willing to spend up to $1800 on a prefab set up, you can do enough to get you going with less on your own. First, you need to think about how much you want to grow.
As far as soil or hydro, you should consider that with hydro you will need to spend more on initial set up and there is a greater learning curb. Hydro is a very delicate system of growing for beginners compared to soil.
Ok with that out of the way. I would recommend going with a cabinet/ wardrobe closet that you could pick up from Lows or Home Depot. Most famous is a cabinet called the c13 this has been used by many many growers with very good success. I would do a search on the board and put in C13 to start you off. They no longer make them, but you can get an idea of some good cabinet set ups. Generally you can go with a 250w light with few heat problems or a 400w system that takes more consideration when it comes to cooling.
Hope that this gets you going a little.
PS search through the boards for picks and topics before posting and you will find more information which will allow you to make more informed choices and allow you to ask better questions. Don't waist your questions, make them count, and at the same time there is no such thing as a stupid question, or maybe not?

^^^ What he said. First figure out how much you want/need to produce and where it will be regarding space and ventilation. The Home Depot cabinets are a great place to start.. You can get one that has a decent footprint and yield capability, but as said above can be tough to cool when using a larger (250+W) light. Hydro is a much higher maintenance system and more costly to set up, and the only advantages I saw over soil were quicker vegging - the flower time is the same (strain dependant) for either system. I've seen soil outdo hydro watt for watt, and vice-versa, all depending on the grower and ambient conditions. 7-8 foot tall is uneccessary, as you can use LST or SCROG/SOG type techniques to keep the height down and maximize yield. Make sure you get a good fan ( ie. quiet and powerful) and a carbon/charcoal filter one size larger than they recommend =D. Good luck and search, search search - tons of good information here!

I just got the Economy grow box from homegrown hydroponics. Hooked it up and let it run for a while to check heat issues, etc. Stays relatively cool for 400watts in such a small area. I did have to line the sides with aluminum foil because the orange light escapes through the plastic. Runs kind of loud too with the dual exhaust fans, and I keep it about 8" from the wall. Seems it would work better if the intake fan was on the side instead of the rear. Oh well. I'll take a vow of celibacy for three months until I can pay off my credit card.

i agree that you need to find out your requirements first. then you can build your cab from there. you can do it for a lot cheaper than they are charging for those prebuilt systems. and with a little bit of ingenuity and hard work it can be damn near as good. so find out how many plants you want to grow etc and then let us know.
