We "tied" Italy only because they scored on themselves and then we got called for a crap penalty. With a good ref and 11 on 11 we would have lost. Maybe drawn 0-0.

You know why? Because we cannot score. At least not at the level that is required to do well in an international tournament. Sure we can hang with the best but to actually BEAT them takes a little more than NOT losing.

Yeah McBride is good. Are players are GOOD. But to do well in the World Cup you have to be GREAT. We're on the same level as say a decent aisan or central/south american team. Like a Paraguay or a South Korea. They're not bad...but they are not winning the world cup anytime soon.

I'm sick of Donovan. He just sucked. Maybe he should be playing in Europe instead of being a homesick baby and playing for the LA galaxy. That's not going to prepare you to lead the team in the WC for chrissake.

Bruce Arena is out of his league. We need a coach that knows international football because he has been THERE. Like a Gus Hiddink etc. Bruce is really just a glorified college coach who got lucky in 2002. I love the guy but he should be coaching in the MLS.

Maybe Klinsmann will come coach us..but I doubt it now.
Lol, I get you man, and when I said that, I was joking, hence the smiley with his tounge out....

The U.S. will get better, yeah, but there's not a chance in hell we'd be lucky enough to snag Klinsmann at this point. Arena does need the boot though, and I still feel he's part of the reason the Yanks did so poorly. His strategy was totally flawed from the start. He was hoping to just sit back and play solid, uber-conservative football and hope to get lucky like in 2002 when they went to the Quarterfinals by the hand of God. There was not nearly enough urgency in his game plan, and thus the players naturally didn't perform like everyone expected.

They need some new blood in there. I would be all for a guy like Eric Wynalda at this point, because haha, let's face it, he sucks as an announcer, but at least he's played at that level. There were talks of possibly having him coach, so we'll see.
Its a Plant Reviewed by Its a Plant on . World Cup Aftermath Well, as I expected, there was a small bit on the incident on ESPN today following the very controversial attack that happened towards the end of OT. Read for yourself. For me, I believe that's probably some of what happened, as well as a lot more jeering back and forth. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=373675&cc=5901 And how about Materazzi's response. It was professional, but at the same time, I can almost sense his sarcasm. And how's that for class, Italian fans? Rating: 5
