It's pretty ignorant they are labelling ALL drugs as bad. The biggest killer would have to be ignorance and lack of education!
If i were to ask those 10-12 year olds as to why the drugs were bad for them, i can guarantee that they would say "because they can kill you!" They wouldn't actually know why they are bad for you, it's just exactly what the teacher is telling them.
Education is a massive key to using drugs! If you know about them, you know the positive and negative points so that you are not stupid with using them.
When i was that age, i had THE EXACT SAME VIEW POINT! I was totally against drugs and said i would never use them!! Now i'm 19 and have tried alcohol,lsd,shrooms and weed! I know a lot about most drugs so a can attain a non-bias view about what i would try and what not to try. I would never ever touch any type of amphetamine (heroin, cocaine and it's attributes, speed etc etc)!Man those people are such bias dicks!

Heroin is an opiate, which has the exact opposite effect on the body as an amphetamine.

I'll give you half credit on the cocaine comment. Cocaine is what they label a "euphoric stimulant". The chemical name is benzoylmethyl ecgonine.

Any drug that contains amphetamine will actually have amphetamine in the chemical name.

Sorry if I read this all wrong and you didn't mean to put parentheses around "(heroin, cocaine and it's attributes, speed etc etc)", but the way you wrote it just caught me as extremely ironic considering one or two lines before that you are talking about the fact that you "know a lot about most drugs".

When I was that age I thought I'd never do drugs and I was probably saying the same shit as those little shits but then one day when I was growing up in a building with 16 hippies all on drugs (I'm serious) I decided that I would smoke and on that night I smoked I drank and I knew how wrong I really was... I don't see anything wrong with teaching kids right from wrong. As much as we all love marijuana and other drugs that we feel shouldn't be illegal for whatever reason, they're still illegal. When they grow up, they will make their own decision about the fact. In this day and age, I'm glad they still have DARE around, it's not like when alot of us were kids, we never brought guns to school and crazy things like that. Teaching children that drugs are bad is not a bad thing, what should they be teaching them? That certain ones are ok?

If there ever was a drug that would turn me into a needle fiend, its Morphine.

For that reason, last time i had surgery, I specifically asked for no morphine in recovery.

There's a differance between teaching them right from wrong and lying to them to scare them. Drugs are illegal, and no kid should be told to go out and smoke weed (I wish I would have waited untill I was older to start). What gets to me is that these fear tactics don't do anything except breed an assload of idiot drug users who have never been taught the differnce between abuse and responsible use.
It isn't just drugs though... I mean we all grew up being told what they think our minds could handle. For example, I do not know many people that graduated from high school who could honestly tell me anything about General Custer and Little Big Horn, but I think everyone knows the cute story of our first Thanksgiving (which is also an outright lie). I mean there is a reason we have an undereducated apathetic public who believe what Fox News tells them.
