Unfortunately if there is a god he would have been the one to create it. He would have set up the rules-big fish eats little fish; survival of the fittest; the weak shall perish as prey for the strong, etc...

If you've ever considered the stark cruelty of nature; the way a wasp will capture an aracnid as a living slave to feed its young, or how one thing mercilessly devours, smothers, poisons or strangles another, etc., you begin to realize the designer (if there was one) had no use for any warm and fuzzy live and let live philosophy.

So I guess it's up to us. Frankly I'm surprised we're not worse than we are. In fact I'm a little hopeful that in the scheme of things we've put Nature on a leash and, in doing so, told the designer to bite our butts-we don't want to play that way.

So maybe in a way we're little gods in godschool and we get to make our own rules. Then in a million years we'll figure out a better way to do it and set up the utopia we all long for. Until then we've got a tuff row to hoe.
