But seriously, I have finished my student teaching and now I am on my way to be a full fledged teacher. All that is left is to take a $150 test and then wait 4 weeks for my certification. So, I am going to teach your kids and maybe I will be teaching some of you here on this board. Just wanted to say that cause I am really excited about the knowledge that the last 5 1/2 years of my life weren't a waste.

Oddly enough, I am a history major. I specialize in American History. I eventually want to go for my AP certification so I can teach an AP U.S. History Class. Thats my goal anyway.

That reminds me of my AP U.S. History class in high school. My teacher so down to earth and chill, and she also loved to smoke. She would never admit it to any of us either in school or whenever we saw her at a lot of the same concerts we went to, but you could tell, and I'm sure she knew it too. We'd always go in her room during lunch and just talk about music or whatever too. Hopefully you too can steer the next generation in the right direction, and to let them think for themselves. : )

What is this? Coincidence day?! I guess I can chalk it up to good karma. I guess the only difference between my AP teacher and yours would be that she drank some STRONG Irish Coffee all the time and admitted it to the class. We didn't really care though cause she was cool.

Hey LIP, if I ever come over to Europe one day I'll be sure to hit you up. As of now I have houseguest from England. We met in High School and we stayed togethor through the internet (she was foriegn exchange). She is pretty chill. Now i just need to work up the guts to ask her out. Funny, she can stay at my house and chill but I just can't ask her out. Damn.

Teaching is a good gig. I did it for three years right after college. I taught high school English and journalism. I enjoyed the kids a lot, but they don't pay teachers nearly enough in Texas. So I moved onto other things.

One thing I learned during the process was that when kids sense that you like them, they tend to succeed a lot more than they do if they don't think you value them. They really do thrive with positive feedback and affection, and a lot of them really need someone in their lives who care. That's one of the many neat things about teaching--and about being a parent, too--the ability to be a positive influence in someone's life.

Good luck to you! (You won't be teaching my kid. He's already in college now, giving grief to college professors instead of high school teachers. I'm sure you'll get plenty of others, though!)
