    Too many brown hairs?

Could someone give me some advice please?
I have a 3' plant just starting its 4th week of bloom and about 25% of the hairs have turned brown already, is this normal?

I am growing in soil with a 600watt dual spectrum bulb.
Am feeding with 7ml of Ionic Bloom and 1ml of Ionic boost twice a week.
Temp and humidity are fine and otherwise the plant looks healthy.

I am just a bit worried as this is my first grow and I want it to go well.

    Any help would be appreciated

that picture of your avature is you?
If 80% of hairs are brown then its time to harvest.

    That is too early.

What else can you say about the buds? Do they appear moist or dry? Are the hairs still kind of normal looking or are they all shrivelly and tight up against the bud?

    Are there dead, grey areas?

Hard, crispy buds that dry prematurely can mean a Zn deficiency.

I don't believe it's a good idea to mess around with micro nutes that late in flowering. But you can check on your pH to make sure that it isn't just a nutrient lockout.

Oh, do you have pics? Zn def. will also affect leaves. Post em if you got em.

Pistils are not a good indicator of maturity.

According to The Cannabis Grow Bible by Greg Green:

Here are some indicators to help you identify it's harvest time....

    • 50 percent to 70 percent of the pistils change color

    • Plants stop producing crystals (trichomes)

    • The fan leaves and lower leaves have turned yellow and are starting to die off

    • The smell has reached it peak

    • Bud mass has not increased in the past few days
    Neither are fan leaves. Also:

As some of these older pilstils wither the other pistils begin a visable transformation in color from white to orange, red or brown.

    1. less than 5% of the pistils are withering
    2. approximately 90% of the pistils have reached maturity
    3. less than 5% of the pistils appear to be in the early stages of growth

The 90% group is the one that you should gauge your harvest with.
Brown hairs can also be a sign of pollination. I don't give any nutes the last week or two of flowering. If you're not sure, take a sample!

Growing in soil? You might have nutrient burn! I water soil plant with nutes, then 1-2 times with just water, and as long as they look healthy and are thriving, I don't add anything extra.

too many times new growers get caught up in that, "Add nutrients to get more buds, and they end up burning up the roots...then the Bud turns to crappy weed...

Really should post pics, when you want advice on burnt or brown hairs, that you feel are unnatural...Otherwise, all you get get is somewhat educated guesses; Or not!
    Peace

    Too many brown hairs?

Thanks for all the advice, cannot post pics as my digital camera is only cheap and any close ups appear blurry and useless.
Am thinking it is nute burn now as the tips of all the leaves are yellow,
will flush and see if that stops the problem.

    Thankyou

To Stinkyattic: The buds appear slightly wilted but look very moist and there are no dead or grey areas
