How to seal a regular interior door/way??

I was reading a post about how to seal the back of a grow-cab, it made me wonder how to seal a regular interior door. I tried weatherstipping once, put it on the surfaces inside the door-frame where the door contacts the frame, but even a small thickness kept the door from closing all the way (on the doorknob-side it was okay, but on the hinges-side it was too tight). Is there a way to do this Iā??m missing? Or do you have to frame in a whole ā??airlockā?? area inside the door, with a second door on it?

Is it a house where you can do what you want, or apartment that you'll be leaving eventually? Also, what kind of existing door (hollow core, solid wood, metal, etc)?

Weatherstripping around the frame but not on the hinges side for reasons you already discovered.
On the hinge side, when the door is closed no light should come through anyway so don't worry about it, but check to make sure.
I flight shows through, you can attach a baffle made of strips of something flexible and lightproof, such as a couple layers of black plastic.

yeah, I weather strip the frame with varying thickness. The door takes a little tug to close, but it pretty much fully seals it from the outside environment. Light cant get in, but you can still see a tiny bit of light from the outside. I then use some flexible plastic stripping that will cover the crack between the door and the jam when its closed. For the hinge side, I just play some black plastic along the edge.
