Emo music isn't music, it's the corporate music of the day.

See, pop music flips around...

Pop Rock, little kids singing and getting their 15 minutes of fame.

Pop boy band...guys singing love songs and getting their 15 minutes of fame.

Pop metal...a basic metal riff and a guy screaming evil things at the top of his lungs.

Pop rap...born the same time as pop punk; a guy or girl rhyming about life on the streets or what parties they go to or what laws they break

Pop punk A.K.A. Emo...punk calmed down to sing only about depression and random-ass things.

Anything with "Pop" in front of it is going to fall under corporate-cut guidelines and thus sound like every fucking other band in its genre.

I can tolerate emo once in awhile, but it's too repetitive for me to listen to it for longer than 10 minutes

Emo is real genre, its been around since the 80's, a lot of it is passionate and from the heart thats what music is about, right ?
And its not slowed down punk.

So stop with anti-establishment bullcrap already, its been said a million times before.

However people who dress "emo" are just sceney boppers with no sense of direction so they just follow the like you said "it's the corporate music of the day" except this is the corporate fashion of the fucking year. And its been going on for way too long.
We cant help it if they cant think for themselves until they grow up.
And yeah they look queer as fuck but people shouldnt put down what emo really was back in the day.
