There is an abundance of information as to why marijuana is illegal. Use google, check my post history, anything..

Just because a large amount of people do it, doesen't justify it being legal.

If I compiled a list of every person that has ever exceeded the speed limit (ie: every driver who has ever driven on a highway before) it would basically consist of every person known to man. Speeding is still illegal.

I break the law every single day by smoking pot and driving over the speed limit, and sometimes a combination of the two. All something being illegal means to me is to use your best judgement. Unfortunately, people can't control themselves and their actions since the beginning of time.. and thats why things need to be illegal. Before there were "laws", why do you think religions were started? The world needed a way to control society, and the understanding of a superior being judging your actions and determining your fate or afterlife(s) was just a perfect idea, and everyone believed it and it worked for a really long time, and still currently works to a lesser degree. Law today works the same way. Police enforcement work to control and regulate society.

There is a LOT of crime involved with Marijuana. A lot of you just don't live in the areas to experience it on a daily basis, so you can't understand where the justifications are coming from.

The reason pot became illegal in the first place was because of the greed of William Randolph Hearst.

Before he came along hemp was the most used plant in the world, for fuel, paper & most medicines were derived from it.

There is NO evidence of it being harmful in any way!!

The ONLY reason there is ANY crime involving marijuana is because of prohibition. Do you see the underworld selling alcohol & major crimes associated with it, like there is with marijuana.

NO you don't because they legalized it & regulated it.

REMOVE the prohibition & remove the CRIME element, makes sense.

Read this article & you'll see how they manipulated the laws in their favor, not for the public's better interests.

the crime happens because certain poeple wanna rob and rip ppl off. and when they do someone wants revenge. But if it were sold in smoke shops that would almost eliminate that problem. Now compare that to alchohol.

regarding the idea that the government profits off of prohibition: negative. the government spends on average about 15 billion dollars a year on jailing people for possession, trafficking, possession of paraphernalia, and other marijuana related crimes. THIS IS 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT OF MONEY SPENT ON EDUCATION ANNUALLY. if marijuana WERE legalized the benefits would not be limited to people who smoke weed. it would not only save the US billions of dollars each year but it would also help lessen the problem of overcrowding in jails. in some parts of the country such as california, marijuana has actually also lessened the effect of the recession by replacing failing industries such as timber. marijuana is basically illegal because of the lack of true understanding of it's affects and a big part of that is due to how differently it affects certain people. some people become lazy. some become violent. some become apathetic. these are the most common stereotypes of a marijuana smoker. this list obviously proves there are exceptions, and many of them, i consider myself one.
