A question about Amsterdam
I might have a chance to go to Amsterdam this augest, and I read somewhere that you have to be over 18 to enter a coffe shop. Well, I'm under 18, will that be a problem? How strict are they really?

A question about Amsterdam
What about if I went in with someone over 18, they bought it, and then I smoked it with them in the coffe shop. Would that work?

A question about Amsterdam
When I went we didn't get ID'd for the first 3 days, then my other friend came over and we got asked for our ID in every coffee shop...when you walk up to the bar they will normally ask you then....
I did see a guy get ID'd and he wasn't 18, he just wasn't allowed to smoke in the shop...
If you are inconspicuous about it they might not ask you....just relax and don't go up to the bar with the people who are buying....
lol
There is nothing stopping you smoking in the hotel though....if its a smoking hotel...but I expect you dont want to be stuck in the hotel the whole time....Amsterdam is an amazing city!!

A question about Amsterdam
If your in a foriegn country, you should at least respect thier laws when you're out in the public. Massive drug tourrism is a big part of why the Dutch coffee shops are declining in numbers. But, I'm sure it would be easy to smoke with an 18 year old at a table, as long as you don't look like a total kid/idiot.

A question about Amsterdam
Marijuana is only legal for medical use. However, the Dutch have a policy of tolerance to small amounts being sold to people over the age of consent. However, drug tourrists from Belgium (and all of Europe) began to go to Holland to buy drugs. This creates an undesirable element because you have a lot of people under the influence of different drugs at the same time. The Dutch have had a policy where the number of coffee shops remains in decline. No new permits can be issued, not even if another shop closed down.
