Just a few questions about Amsterdam (going there next month :D )

How expensive is food there? Im staying at a campsite about 30 mins walk from the city centre, and Im wondering whether I should take a shitload of Pot Noodle or pay for food out there? Only going for three days, 14th to 17th August.
And, how expensive is the bud? Do the coffeeshops always have a selection of indicas and sativas, or do they always tend to err towards the indica side? Hoping to pick up some nice DP hash while Im there if I can to bring back as a gift to... well, myself lol. Actually, sending back would be a better way to put it. And yes, I know about fake names and methods to do it, please dont discuss methods of bringing back bud otherwise this thread will get closed.

I might be there the same time as you! I need to find out if I'll be able to toke in the coffe shops even though i'm under 18. I already posted a thread for it, but if anyone knows let me knwo!

It depends dude....
when you go to coffeeshops they prefere it if you buy somthing aswell as weed (food/drink)...but I suppose thats just courtesy...
Food was expensive in the shops....the only reasonable place we found was the Pink Floyd coffee shop....haha we ate so many hot-dogs there.
But if you can find a supermarket (there arn't many as far as I saw) it's ok.

Different coffeeshops have different types of weed as you can probably guess....prices vary strain to strain and coffeeshop to coffeeshop.
They generally have a mix of Indicas and Sativas but somtimes you might have to ask, and some places refere to them and "stoned" and "high" (I assume for people who don't know much about weed)
As far as I saw they lean't towards the Indica side....but we smoked so many types of weed it didn't really matter at the end of the day....we were just really stoned..haha

I loved it there dude, im going back for new year...im sure you'll have a great time....just remember to be respectful to their way of life....it might be different to yours.

There was muchos ID'ing last time I went.

I had one person with me underage but they often slipped in behind us while we where distracting the bouncers with our passports, but hes a master at that anyway, he is so in his own little world nowone notices him and he doesn't notice them.

It just meant on the occasion he was asked we couldn't go to one or two particular coffeeshops because of him.

Umma gumma, the pink floyd coffeeshop is highly reccomended!! I loved the smoke there (especially the bubblehash) and the fact they're often playing floyd music is a huge bonus.

If you are on your own or dont look old, your gonna spend a while finding somehwere you can get into, Avoid centraal area, the nearer you are to the station and touristy bits, the less likely you are to have luck.

Stick to small localish ones, they often have a more interesting atmosphere anyway.

I went there lasf month for a week. Everything is more expensive!
And like Az said, buy food and drinks! They'll treat you better.
And if you want have them weigh what you bought right in front of you.
Sometimes it's a custom. Try the "Sweet Dreams" coffe shop (the one with a big ass drawing of cheech and chong in front!)
or the Pink Floyd! Either way, i bet you'll have a great time.
But don't make it all about smoking, the city has a lot of other things to see! Like... well you'll see. Have fun!! :rasta:

Well, Im only going for three days so I think Im just going to have to make it about smoking. Ive asked my mate Ben if he wants to come, but I might go on my own as I need another break soon! Just some quality time with myself, and of course Ill try and bring Ben back some Dutch Delights - and some for myself obviously! As for the ID thing, Ill be 19 when I go so will I have to take my passport out with me all the time or is a (decent) photocopy of it OK? Just that I wont feel too comfortable taking my passport with me, especially if Im stoned! If I can find a nice tent Ill go camping instead of staying in a cabin, that way I might be able to go for a week and be able to see some sights as well.
Az, what were the prices of bud over there? Or, more accurately, what did they range from? Not looking to smoke much hash, I prefer bud personally. Never smoked decent hash before so with bud its harder to overdo it.

Hash has never done an awfull lot to me, and the only stuff that did in amsterdam, out of about 8 varieties, was the bubblehash from umma gumma, it put me in absolute hysterix, I havnt had that kind of weed related uncontrollable laughter in absolutely YEARS. Altho it resulted in my Bigmac being spat in at a nearby macdonalds. Bastards (they thought I was laughing at them..I wasn`t!)

One thing you might want to bear in mind, because many people dont, is do not buy too much of anything if you are wanting to try a few different varieties.
All you end up with is so much hash/weed on the last day that you dont know what to do with it all!
Some coffeeshops have better stock than others, so do look around.
And i would recommend buying a little book called the Smokers Guide. It basically tells you everything you need to know..
